About the Event
Let's keep our freshwater FRESH. Join this shoreline cleanup at William C. Sterling State Park in Monroe, MI.
Volunteers, sign-in and grab your supplies at the pavilion in the day use area at 10am. Gloves, buckets, and trash grabbers will be provided. Please bring your own if you have some!
This event is happening in partnership with Great Lakes Great Living and the Michigan DNR/Michigan State Parks (thank you for providing trash disposal services!).
As we clean from 10am-12pm, we will count how many pieces of trash we collect to contribute to the #GreatLakes1Million challenge, led by Great Lakes Great Responsibility.
Our clean up agenda:
10AM: Meet at pavilion by the beach to sign-in and grab supplies
10:10-11:45AM: Spread out along the shoreline and inland areas to pick up trash, counting how many pieces you collect
11:45AM (or earlier): Meet back at the pavilion to weigh trash and share trash count data
12:00PM: Final trash tally and total weight revealed -- celebration time! Prizes to be given for most trash collected.
Cheers to clean water! Please share far and wide!
